Literature week

NEW in 2025 ! Literature week

Improve your French during a special week in immersion

Everyday during your lesson time, your teacher Delphine will make you discover an extract of a main literary masterpiece such as a novel, a fairytale, a fable etc. I will present you writers from 17th century until nowadays. In total, you will study 5 differents texts throughout the week. They will permit you to learn about majors authors of french literature, but not only !

The exercices I imagined and conceived, based on those texts, will permit you to work all the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) competences : reception, production, oral interaction, mediation and linguistic competences. Each selected extracgt will help you deepen :

  • oral and written comprehension : the text will be hear and / or read
  • specific vocabulary
  • pronounciation and intonation by reading aloud
  • grammar : we will focus on interesting sentences picked from the text (their structure, the pronouns, verbs conjugation etc)
  • oral and written production linked to the studied passage
  • literary culture discovering 5 different authors, the time they lived and the context in which they wrote the book

The purpose of this option of learning French is to be open to all the students, no matter their level. however, it will take some time to find texts and make exercices for everyone, so you have to reach at least B1 level to choose this option in 2025. I am working on new texts to widen the program to a lower level. You don’t need to be a good reader or to have any literary knowledge for this option. It will just be an original and fun way to sharpen your French skills !

Bonus : 2 actvities linked to literature are included if you choose this option :

  • a visit to the « médiathèque » (a local library)
  • we will share a drink in a bookstore & tea shop of the town centre, with view over the château de Pau !

This option is available with both immersion programs : basic and intensive for no extra cost.
