Description of the immersion programs :

You will have to choose between 2 programs (basic or intensive) for your immersion stay, to which you can add options (additional visits, half or full-day excursions) :

BASIC program : You are planning to visit the region and you want to add some French classes to make your trip in France complete ? This program will be suitable if you want to learn or improve your French but, most of all, if you want to have plenty of time on your own. Why not rent a car and drive around after your morning French classes. It will be a good way to mix lessons and holidays. Accommodation in your own flat, next to your teacher’s, and 3 hours of individual tuition per day are included. I will be available all along your stay if you want me to guide you for any optional visit. We will share dinner on your last night.

INTENSIVE program : This program includes as well the accommodation and 3 hours of French lessons every morning but you will share more time with me, as we will have lunch together everyday, which is a very good occasion to practise. You will give me a hand during meals preparation if you wish so, and we can share recipes. I like to learn new ones and to try food from all around the world. I will adapt lunches to your diet preferences. I am not vegan but if you are, I will be very happy to try it with you. In the afternoon, 3 activities per week are included, accordind to your preferences, such as going to the market, the library, the brocante, visiting town centre, walking in the woods etc… In total, you will speak French at least 35 hours in a week. That will help you to improve your understanding and comprehension level considerably in a short amount of time. This program is also the best option if you want to discover French culture from the inside, be included in my family everyday-life, and sometimes even meet other members of my family or friends. You will get many occasions to talk to native speakers outside of the classroom while we go out.

NEW in 2025 ! Literature week : This option is available with both basic and intensive programs. It is a unique way to improve your French skills thanks to literature. (Read more about it clicking on “literature week”)

Here is an example of a 1 week stay with the intensive program :

Arrivals are preferely done on Sunday afternoon (or evening) and departures on Saturday morning. Classes are held 5 days a week from Monday to Friday.

According to reservations already made by other guests, this schedule can be adapted to your holiday wishes : change your arrival/departure day, move lessons to another day in order to plan a full-day excursion for example… 

I stay flexible to make your stay a pleasant and fun experience. There will be no problem planning an excursion or any visit/ shared activity at the last minute. An immersion program is quite demanding, so it is important to listen to yourself and adapt the week according to your possibilities : you will be welcome to have a rest or free time whenever you need some.

What is included in each program?

Options prices (visits and half-day excursions) :

You can add 2 visits per week to your program. They will take place on your afternoon free time. Prices include transport and entry fees of the different sites. Don’t hesitate to ask me if you have a special request not listed below. I can arrange a cooking or yoga class, massage or any activity you would enjoy !

Skipping school (full day excursion) :

We will spend the day out enjoying the area (mountain, beach, visiting typical villages…), which means no class in the morning but we will speak French all day long ! These are just a few suggestions, there are so many possibilites around that I can’t write them all ! You can find other ideas of half-day or full-day visit on this page. Don’t hesitate to ask me if you have another request.

Excursions to the mountain are dependant to season and weather conditions. They could be cancelled in case of bad weather. You don’t need to be very sporty or in a very good shape for these excursions.

Excursion to Artouste : Thanks to the gondola and to the train you will reach the summits and enjoy the Pyrenees at altitude. Breathtaking panorama on top !

Summer excursion only (available from May until October)

Excursion to Cauterets : Cauterets is a beautiful thermal village. We will go hiking to picnic by the Gaube lake. The ascension takes around an hour but if don’t want to walk / can’t walk so long it is possible to use the chair lift (an extra fee will be ncessary in that case).

Price for the full-day includes hiking + village visit + picnic lunch + transport

Excursion to Bayonne or Biarritz : Bayonne and Biarritz are 2 beautiful towns on the Basque coast. We can plan to spend the day in one of them, or mix the 2 as they are very close to each other. During the day, we will visit the town centre and have lunch in a local restaurant. We can also spend some time on the beach (if we are in Bayonne, the closest beach is Anglet). There are interesting museums in each town : Basque museum in Bayonne, ocean city and aquarium in Biarritz. If you want to visit any of them, the cost will not be included in the price of the excursion.

Price includes transport, parking + visit of the towns + lunch at the restaurant.
